Krista Starr is a former Iraq War veteran. After returning home from a tour, she discovers her twin brother, Zack, has been murdered. Krista's investigation into the matter leads her into the dark underworld of vampires.
Krista found an unlikely ally in the form of Eric Brooks; a stern, vigilant hero, and human-vampire hybrid. Together, they join forces to take down the vampiric House of Chthon, and its leader, Marcus Van Sciver.
Biography[]
Blade: The Series[]
As Krista returns home after a military tour in Iraq, she is greeted by her mother and uncle; they had organised a welcome home party. During an argument with her mother regarding the whereabouts of her brother, Zachary Starr, they are interrupted by a knock at the door; Krista answers the door and is greeted by the police. The police inform Krista and her family that a body matching Zach’s description was found.
Krista went with the Police to identify her brother’s body; once she had confirmed that the deceased was in fact her brother, she was informed of the investigation by Detective Boone.
Personality[]
Krista is stubborn and headstrong, to the point of being impulsive and reckless; for example, upon meeting Blade for the first time, she pointed a gun in his face; despite the fact that she had just witnessed Blade kill two vampires. Krista was also willing to attempt an assassination of Marcus Van Sciver in public, without any planning or strategy (as revenge for killing her twin brother, Zack Starr). These impulsive actions led to Krista's capture by Chase, as well as her subsequent turn into a vampire.
Krista was incredibly loyal and protective of brother, Zach; she always defended Zach to her mother (which created tension in their relationship) and was willing to do anything to take down the people responsible for her brother's death. Krista's subsequent turn into a Vampire also had a significant impact on her character and behaviour; Krista struggled with her new hunger and instincts, she also found herself conflicted between her commitment to taking down her brother's killers and the loyalty that she felt to her new "family".
Krista’s struggle with her Vampire nature, as well as the trauma of losing her mother and uncle, were also significant motivations in her decision to purposely stop taking the serum that Blade had given her to control her bloodlust, however, Blade stopped Krista before she had the chance to feed on an innocent human. It is possible that Krista embraced her vampiric nature, and enjoys being the apex predator.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
Vampirism: Krista possesses all of the typical vampiric powers and abilities; including longevity, retractable fangs, superhuman strength, speed, agility, endurance, senses, and an accelerated healing factor. Krista also possesses the conventional vampiric weaknesses; such as a vulnerability to sunlight, silver and garlic, as well as a need to ingest blood.
- Protractile Fangs: Vampires possess adapted musculature around the canine teeth, that can extend these in order to form sharp fangs. Similarly, they can also extend their fingernails to claw-like proportions.
- Superhuman Strength: As a Vampire, Krista possesses enhanced strength, superior to that of any Human. Krista can exert greater strength and force, her raw physical strength allows her to lift and press between 1000lbs and 4000lbs, and easily overpower, lift, toss and throw humans. Krista can lift and throw objects with great speed and force, and tear doors off of their hinges.
- Superhuman Speed: Krista is able to run and move at superhuman speeds. Krista can run at faster speeds than any Human, she is able to rapidly run, sprint, jump and climb. Krista is also fast enough to quickly hunt down her prey, and can sprint fast enough to briefly keep up with moving vehicles such as subway trains.
- Superhuman Agility: Krista possesses reflexes, agility and bodily coordination that is superior to any Human. Krista can run, jump and climb without difficulty or exhaustion, quickly climb tall buildings, as well as scale sheer surfaces like walls and ceilings. Krista can also leap higher and further than humans and animals; as a newly turned vampire, Krista was able to jump from her window, onto the roof of another building in a single bound.
- Superhuman Senses: As a Vampire, Krista possesses heightened senses of sight, smell and hearing. Krista can hear sounds and conversations that Humans cannot, and her sense of smell allows her to catch the scent of blood. Vampires can also see into the ultraviolet spectrum and possess perfect visual clarity, even in complete darkness; this allowed Krista to view glyphs that have been hidden in ultraviolet ink.
- Superhuman Endurance: With certain exceptions and restrictions, Vampires are invulnerable to most conventional causes of fatality. Vampires are able to endure and survive normally fatal traumas, such as multiple gunshots, stab wounds, immolation, even close range explosions, and continue to function.
- Accelerated Healing Factor: Vampires are able to heal and recover from trauma and injury at a greatly accelerated rate. As well as being immune to terrestrial diseases and illnesses, any injuries that a Vampire suffers will usually heal within the span of 24 hours; even severe burns, gunshots, stab wounds (however severed limbs can take several days to completely regenerate).
- Longevity: While Vampires appear to be immortal, due to the drastically slow rate at which they age, they can eventually die of old age, albeit after several thousand years. As a turned vampire, Krista will maintain the physical age and appearance she had when she was still human.

- Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: As a former Iraqi war veteran, Krista is highly trained in hand-to-hand combat.
Weaknesses[]
Krista possesses all of the typical weaknesses of a Vampire; such as vulnerabilities to silver, garlic, and ultraviolet light, as well as a need to ingest blood.
